Special School Games

The special school games was set up in 2015 on the back of Charlie Latimer asking to raise awareness around children with specific learning difficulties and disabilities. Active Essex promised to support Charlie and the games was put it in place at the Basildon sporting village in Essex.

Prior to the event children meet during the multi-school council meetings to discuss what school will help support the event and who will compete. At the event children have the chance to compete in a range of sports from New age kurling to Basketball and also meet and make friends with children from all different schools and backgrounds.

The aim for the SSG is to have every special school in Essex represented at these games and for as many young leaders from the multi-schools council to come along and help run the day while also building their leadership skills.
